DESCRIPTION OF STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS

According to the Regulations of the Department of Physics the Expert Council is the Council of the Department. Organizational units of the Department are: Chairs, Library, Laboratory and the Secretariat. The internal organizational structure of the Department is shown in Figure 1.
In accordance with the Regulations of the Department, the Department is managed by the Council and the Department Head.
The Head is assisted by two deputies, the Academic Secretary and Head of Accounting.

THE COUNCIL OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Council of the Department is the Expert Council. It consists of all teachers in scientific-educational titles, one representative of the teachers elected in educational title, two representatives of associates elected in associate titles, one representative of other Department employees who have an employment contract with the Department, three student representatives of the Department (at least 15% of total number of representatives of the Council). Head and Deputy Heads are members of the Council ex officio. The Academic Secretary participates in the work of the Council without having voting rights.

THE HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS
The Head of the Department of Physics represents the Department and has all rights and obligations in accordance with the University Statute and the Regulations of the Department of Physics. The Head is responsible for the legality, the implementation of the University Statute, Department Regulations and decisions of the university bodies of the Department. The Head is by his/her function a member of the University Council for natural sciences. The Head is assisted by two deputies, the Academic Secretary and Head of Accounting.

THE DIVISIONS
The Division is the basic organizational unit of the Department in charge of teaching, scientific and professional work. It might consist of Division Chairs and Laboratories. The way of working and decision making are described with the Regulation of the Department of Physics.
Members of the Division are teachers, assistants and research assistants who perform or participate in the performance of the subjects in accordance with the study program and the curriculum of the Department.
Nowadays, there are two (2) Divisions: Division for Experimental Physics and Division for Theoretical Physics and Computer Science.

THE DIVISION CHAIRS
Chairs are established for more related courses. Members of chairs are teachers, associates and scientists who teach or participate in teaching in the same or related subjects. The way of working and decision making are described with the Regulation of the Department of Physics.
Nowadays, there are four (4) Division Chairs: Division Chair for General Physics, Division Chair for Solid State Physics, Division Chair for Theoretical Physics and Division Chair for Informatics.

LABORATORIES
The laboratory is an organizational unit of the Division that has been established for the purpose of carrying out scientific and technical research and projects as well as practical training. The way of working and decision making are described with the Regulation of the Department of Physics. Nowadays, there are one (1) Laboratory established:

THE SECRETARIAT
The secretariat is an organizational unit which performs legal, professional-administrative, financial, accounting and business operations. It carries out quality assurance activities related to student affairs, technical and other operations in the Department, and other activities related to successful operation of the Department, as determined by the Regulation of the Department and by other General acts. The Secretariat carries out activities for the whole Department, unless such operations are in regular activities of other organizational units of the Department determined in the Regulation of the Department.
The Secretariat consists of lower organizational units. The Academic Secretary is in charge of this unit.

THE LIBRARY
The library is a organizational unit of the Department of Physics for performing library-information tasks and tasks related to teaching, scientific research and professional needs of the Department. The library system, with its library and information services, is a part of the University library system. The library is represented and managed by the Head of library. The current Head of the library is an employee of the Department of Mathematics.
